So, the first update on Complete Works of Shakespeare [Abridged]:

We are in the phase of production where we are trying to get newspapers to write stories about us. We feel like we have a couple of nice selling points that make us unique: Thursdays are free (OrFREE-o), Fridays are free for students, we are having BBQ’s every night before the show, there will be preludes from folks within our theatrical community, as well as those from other artistic communities around Boston, we are the first company other than the Publick to be in Christian Herter Park since 1971, and there is really not a ton of summer theatre happening in Boston this summer.

We are also having fun trying to figure out the Equity rules for hiring our first Equity member, the beguiling Gabriel Kuttner. This is proving more difficult than one might think. It’s also expensive.

In conclusion, producing theatre can be very boring, often disheartening, and very expensive. Good thing the show is making us laugh our asses off on a daily basis. It’s always worth it when you look across the room and spontaneously burst out in giggles. This group is held together by the glue of fun, and the business aspect is simply a sign that we are willing to put hard work into ensuring our ability to continue having fun.

Hello, Happy Theatre Goers, and those of you who are simply curious. Welcome to Orfeo Group’s Blog. We will try to maintain a bit of bloggage every few days or so, detailing what we’re up to both on the shows we are working on as a group, and shows around town that we’re in or think are too bad-ass to miss.

This is our first attempt at reaching into the internet community and sucking in all who care to discover the cracked out hilarity that happens behind the scenes of Orfeo Group. For example, did you know that Gabriel just had a child?! Yes, this terrifying fact is a truth. Gabriel is a father. And a good one who is actually amused by his diaper genie. I’m afraid I find little pleasure in pulling a lever that dumps dirty diapers into the trash can for me, but he is converting into parent mode, and really thinks it’s cool.

Check back in here for updates on shows, our personal conquests, our opinions of theatre around town, and rants from random group members on the state of the world, art, alien invasions and more.
